About

Susan P. Baker, a retired Texas District Court Judge from Galveston, is the award-winning author of fourteen books. Eleven of her books are novels inspired by events she witnessed in the justice system (fictionalized of course), to-wit: five Mavis Davis Mysteries, featuring an outspoken and uncensored private investigator who offices in Houston but travels around Texas solving murders; two Lady Lawyer Mysteries, featuring female criminal defense lawyers based in Galveston; four stand-alone mystery/suspense novels all but one with female protagonists—lawyers, judges, or litigants.
Susan’s other two books are nonfiction: Murdered Judges, true stories about judges killed in 20th Century America, and Heart of Divorce--Advice from a Judge (a book for folks who don't want to fight). Her collection of short pieces--essays from her time on the bench, personal pieces, and short stories is Fly Catching.

Susan is a member of Texas Authors, Authors Guild, Sisters in Crime, Writers’ League of Texas, and Galveston Novel and Short Story Writers. She is delighted to be the mother of two daughters and proud grandmother of eight children, ranging in age from 12 to 30.

Her favorite things are travel, dark chocolate, and laughter.
